The Musclejon is a shallow water jet boat of multipurpose design that provides for extreme low water operations. The vessel utilizes speed, maneuverability to navigate narrow rocky rivers and a tough UHMW bottom for survivability. The Musclejon may be adapted for a variety of uses including military, law enforcement applications, search and rescue or transporting personnel or supplies. The Musclejon is designed to be light weight for low draft yet ruggedly built utilizing all welded construction and rolled stringers unique in the marine industry. The UHMW bottom protection make the MuscleJon ideal for armed escort, direct fire support, pursuit/intercept, and scout/patrol riverine operations in extreme low water conditions. It is capable of employing a variety of military and commercial communications/electronics. The open center console configuration can be readily adapted for special operations. The XLWC are high-speed, aluminum tunnel hulled craft powered by a single Mercury Optimax 200HP DFI SportJet. http://www.mercurymarine.com/engines/jetdrives/optimax-jet-drives.php The robust pump and lightweight power head combination provides a tremendous power to weight ratio of nearly 3:1. The rugged light weight construction provides heavy load capacity, maneuverability, and acceleration to quickly get on plane in shallow water with a heavy load. The wide 6ft bottom and seven degree V and dead rise make the XLWC capable of carrying heavy loads in extreme low water conditions. Exposed gravel shoals can be traversed with adequate speed and without little reduction in forward speed. The UHMW bottom protection enables the boat to slide over gravel while the low slung design and fold down windshield allow the craft to navigate fowled areas with hanging debris and sweepers. Fore tripod and aft pedestals may mount either the M2 .50 caliber Heavy Machine Gun (HMG) or the MK19 40mm Grenade Machine Gun. Medium machine guns may be mounted on pintles fixed to the port and starboard gunwales.
The MuscleJon was designed to support commercial/construction operations in Alaska’s shallow interior rivers where ice debris and seasonal variations result in unpredictable, dangerous and evolving conditions. A robust design utility boat capable of carrying a tremendous payload far up river out of the reach of ordinary craft was required. The XLWC version was designed with inputs from the military organizations to accommodate transport systems with hard points and lifting eyes. Additionally the craft have been narrowed to allow upright shipping of 1-4 units in 53′ ISO standard containers.
Dual axel trailers are heavy duty, yet lightweight with leaf springs and a dual bunk system. The boats are easily launched and recovered by a single individual.
