Bottom Protection

Vacuum sealing process

Vacuum sealing process

You have read about these amazing watercraft, now see what goes into protecting them from damaging rocks and debris. The 2172 SJX and XLWC MuscleJon are modern work horses that are as much at home in the shallow rivers and inland waterways of the world as they are in the raging rivers of the Alaska interior.  Our 3/8″ Ocean Poly© UHMW bottom provides unparalleled strength and bottom protection that takes the worry out of boating in any rocky shallow water environment.

Ocean Poly is recognized for its durability, impact resistance and low coefficient of friction. It is virtually unbreakable and has six times more abrasion resistant the steel. There is no ablation or wear and will not chip peel or rot and has a life expectancy of 20+ years. The additional benefits of Ocean Poly is that it resists marine animals, plants and algae, insulates aluminum from galvanic corrosion, reduces hull noise, contains no toxins and is a green alternative to anti-biofouling paints.

Ocean Poly has been temperature tested for adherence to aluminum from -40F to +180F with no expansion or contraction and no separation of adhesion. Machine force testing when bonded with aluminum was 1100lbs/square inch, and with fiberglass 1200lbs/square inch!

Unlike other bottom protection methods, there are no through hull fasteners nor is it sprayed on. Rather  3/8″ sheets of Ocean Poly are chemically bonded using a patented application process that ensures consistent, uniform bonding material flows across every square inch of the covered hull surface removing air pocket or voids. There just simply isn’t better bottom protection available. If there was, we would be using it!
